• Excellent Company

  We had Whitakers to a new development. We have the full service from preparation of ground to laying of turf. Whitakers were excellent in all ways. They gave us excellent service, excellent information and good solid advice as to how to keep the turf looking good in very difficult circumstances as the weather was very dry at the time. The turf did suffer with the weather but after extensive watering it is now absolutely beautiful. Would recommend them to anyone.

• Poor customer service

  We have recently had our back garden levelled during some building work and the builders recommended Whitakers for the turf. We were considering laying it ourselves but decided to pay Whitakers to prepare the surface, supply & lay the turf. As far as I can tell, the turf itself is good quality but the surface of our new lawn is very lumpy and we are very disappointed with it. I telephoned Whitakers to see if they would come and look at it and advise as to what had gone wrong and how me might rectify it and was very surprised when I was met with complete reluctance to even come and look at it. We were accused of walking on it too soon which we did not and were told to roller it. What surprised me most was the attitude of this company. Not only would they not come and look at our lawn (we are only 4.5 miles from them) but I found them rude, unnecessarily defensive and they just tried to blame us for whatever was wrong. We also found the patronising and repeated response of “look, we have been laying turf for 50 years…” of little consolation. If you just want turf delivering, they are probably ok – just keep your fingers crossed that you don’t have any problems.
