Cliffe Ash,
This museum is an excellent example of a community museum. Small, in authentic and sentitively converted weavers (domestic woollen workers) cottages. The displays clearly illustrate how the occupants lived and worked when this lifestyle dominated the working lives of the people of the Colne and other Yorkshire 'textile' valleys. There are other displays of toys, memorabilia and ephemera which enhance the displays and do not distract from the ambience of the crampt living and working spaces. There is a closely related clog and boot shop display enhansing the overall ambiance. I highly recommend a visit - it all too small and deserves to be better recognised.
